- Artha M. Johnson, age 90, of Medina passed away in Western Reserve Masonic Community on Monday, April 27, 2009. She was born in Newland, N.C. on September 4, 1918 to the late Tilman and Melissa Calhoun, and spent much of her life as a homemaker. Artha was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She will be greatly missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Emit Johnson in 1998, son, Finley Johnson in 1997; six brothers, Don, Austin, Bill, Jake, Bernie, Henry and sister, Mattie. She is survived by her son, Gary Jr. and his wife Shelva: five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barb Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor, Jeremy Johnson officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
