- Ruby Deloach Morton, 95, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Signature Health Care.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Mae Lipford Deloach.
Ruby was retired as a cook from Happy Valley High School. She also worked as a CNA at Hillview Health Center for 23 years. Ruby loved to cook, loved music and loved being around kids. She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Ruby was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. All who knew Ruby loved Ruby. She was inducted into the Happy Valley High School Hall of Fame in 1994.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, David Cliff Morton, Roy Huskins and Luther Morton; three brothers, Buddy Deloach, Herbert Deloach and Cliff Deloach; and two sisters, Julie Deloach Carr and Lula Bell Deloach Frazier.
Survivors include three step-sons, Michael (Connie) Morton, Jeff (Sherry) Morton and Teddy Morton; two step-daughters, Jane Michalski and Iva Lee (Earnest) Garland; two step-grandsons, Chris Morton and Teddy Joe Morton Jr.; three step-granddaughters, Libby Sims, Baleb Kunath and Autumn Sims; four step-great-grandchildren; her special nieces, Brylee “Dolly” Stevens, Honery Dugger, Vivian Dugger, Samantha Stevens, Karen Tester and Karen Applegate; her special nephews, Bubba Dugger and Caden Bryant; her sister, JoAnn Jarrett; and her special sister, Betty Stevens.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Earnest Garland officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be David Bryant, Dustin Bryant, Chad Bryant, Shawn Stevens, Johnny Vines, Bill Applegate, Michael Morton, Jeff Morton, Teddy Morton and Ernie Garland. Honorary pallbearers will be former students and faculty of Happy Valley High School.
