- Howard S. Gouge Sr., 88, Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Roan Mountain, he was a son of the late Dosser and Minnie Winters Gouge. Mr. Gouge was a retired produce salesman and carpenter. He was
of the Baptist faith. He had served in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D.C. Byrd and the Rev. John Vance officiating.
Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gouge Family Cemetery (Heaton Ridge Road), Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday, will be Buddy Davis, Danny Davis, Nathan Gouge, Patrick Gouge, Joshua Gouge and Eugene Gouge.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
