- ELIZABETHTON - Lula Dorothy Lett, "Dottie", age 81 of Elizabethton, passed away on, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Dottie was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of the late Bonnie Stout Nave and Worley Milburn Nave, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Rash; two brothers, Worley Nave, Jr. and James Nave; two infant twin siblings; a grandchild, Jenna Claymon and a step-granddaughter, Charlene Cox.
Dottie was a long time member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. She cooked Wednesday night meals for the church and always participated in Bible School activities. She was a very devoted Christian even to her last days. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put others before herself.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, James "Broad" Lett, of the home; two sons, Phillip Claymon and wife, Michell, of Elizabethton; Gary Claymon, of Elizabethton; two step-children, Reggie Lett and wife, Kathy, of Bluff City; Sharon Russell, of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Angelia Claymon Hurley and husband, Aaron Hurley, of Piney Flats; Michael Claymon, of Elizabethton; Kelsie Butler and fiancé Spencer Feathers, of Johnson City; Leesha Whistine and significant other, Greg, of Johnson City; two great-granddaughters, Alexis Claymon and Ava Claymon, both of Piney Flats; and a sister, Della Duvall, of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and other grandchildren also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Lett will be conducted on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Jayson Hoagland officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Willie Horton and Mr. Aaron Hurley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel on Friday prior to the service.
The graveside and interment service will be conducted on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 12:00 PM at East Tennessee Cemetery. Active pallbearers will Greg Garland, Spencer Feathers, Aaron Hurley, Reggie Lett, Gary Claymon, Phillip Claymon and Michael Claymon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Schlueter, Joe Turbyfill, Silas (Si) Tester, Verlin Smith and Mike McKinney.
