- Mrs. Linda Lewis Ramsey, 62,Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord following a courageous battle with ALS, on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Ramsey was a native of Carter County and the daughter of Ivory Hill Lewis of Elizabethton and the late Raymond Keith Lewis, Sr. She was a member of Union Baptist Church where she served as the organist for many years. She was a dedicated RN who worked in Hospice care. She was the most loving and caring mother and grandmother who was especially devoted to her grandchildren. She really enjoyed working in her flowers and she loved butterflies. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her husband, John Ramsey, Sr., Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, John Ramsey Jr. and his wife Christa, Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Leighton, John Evan, Devin, Landon, Lyndie and Connor Ramsey; two sisters, Brenda Davis and her husband, Wayne, Hampton; Glenna Morton, Elizabethton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Lewis, Jr. and his wife, Maxine; Dana "Randy" and his wife, Eddie, all of Elizabethton; Rex and Angela Lewis, Johnson City; special friends, June Bailey, Diane Pierce Maxwell, Yvonne Shoun, Linda Guy, Dorothy Goodwin, Ida Hinkle, Elva Vines, Dottie Higgins and Pam Winchester. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Tetrick Funeral Home, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and at the residence of her husband, 117 Cates Corner, Hampton or her son, 401 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton at other times. The funeral service for Mrs. Ramsey will be conducted on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Pete Pollard, Rev. Bob Shupe and Rev. Doug Ranshaw officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir. Interment will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jim Greenwell, Gary Trivette, Bill Shoun, Wayne Davis, Terry Arnold, Ronnie Heaton, Jr., Mike Fritz, Matt Zimmerman and Kevin Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Shingleton, Harry "Bobby" Ramsey, Richard and Judy Hicks, Vearl Julian and the members of Union Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special thank you to Medical Care and Dr. Jeff Hopland, Heather Fritz and the Nursing Staff of Gentiva Home Health Care, and her nurses, April, Mark, Eric, Christine, Toby, Ellen, Connie, Ashley and Noel for the loving care shown to Mrs. Ramsey during her illness.
