- Emma Mae Hammons was born on 9/20/1907 in Johnson Co., TN. Her parents were William M. "Bill" Hammons and Sarah Elizabeth Forrester. She married Mack McKinley Hall on 7/27/1924. She died on 12/27/1990 in Johnson Co. Her obituary from The Tomahawk appeared as below:
Emma Mae Hall, 83, Route 4, Mountain City, died Thursday at her residence December 27, 1990 following an extended illness. She was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late William and Sarah Forrester Hammons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Hall, who died in 1957 and also two sons, Charles Hall and Ervil Hall and four daughters, Susan Hall, India Hall, Phyllis Woods, and Ella Mae Church. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Harley Hall and Estel Hall, both of Mountain City; Boyd Hall, Greensboro, North Carolina; four daughters, Lenetha Bumgardner, Ruby Price, Wanda Martin and Jaunita Jennings, all of Mountain City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Percy-Hux Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Stout officiating.
Burial followed in the Hammons Cemetery.
