- Mrs. Geraldine Stewart, 62, 103 West Locust Street, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 30, 2010, unexpectedly at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late John and Ira Vines Henson and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harrell Henson.
Mrs. Stewart was a graduate Hampton High School. She and her husband were the owners and operators of David's New and Used Merchandise.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Stewart, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sheila Ward, Fort Walton Beach, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, April and Tony Tunyavongs, Washington, DC; three grandchildren, Emily Ward, Dustin Glover, Nolan Tunyavongs; a brother, Charles E. Henson, Elizabethton; two sisters, Marquetta Greene, Elk Park, NC; Bernita Grindstaff, Elizabethton; a step-son, Bobby Ward, Richmond, KY; a step-daughter, Penny Rice and her husband, Tim, Elizabethton; three step-grandchildren, Kellum, Magan and Lora; a brother-in-law, Sonny Richard Stewart, Erwin, TN; a sister-in-law, Patsy Ann Simpson and her husband, John, Johnson City; and a half-sister, Willa Jean Ward, Boone, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Stewart will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service and at the home of a niece, Shelia Loudermilk, 2138 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City, at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Justin Loudermilk, Carroll Glover, John Grindstaff, Sonny Stewart, Dustin Glover and Donivan Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be J.M. Greene, Luther Grindstaff and Teddy Irick.
