- Lester Eugene Brummett, 71, Plymouth, Mich., died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brummett was a Unicoi County, Tenn., native and a son of the late Hasco Brummett and Mary Brummett Ferrell.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Brummett was a graduate of University State College, Detroit, and received his master's degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn.
He retired in 1992 from General Motors as a general superintendent in Livonia, Mich.
Mr. Brummett was a former light-middleweight boxer.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kyle Ferrell; and one sister, Carolyn Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Brummett; five daughters, Jean Squillets, Jamestown, Tenn., Brenda Hocking, Livonia, Beverly Ramsay, Westland, Mich., Barbara Hall, Oakland, Tenn., and Bonnie Brummett, Plymouth; one son, Lester Brummett, Plymouth; four brothers, Don Brummett, Gerald Brummett and Alan Brummett, all of Bowling Green, and Joe Ferrell, Elizabethton, Tenn.; three sisters, Roxie Jones, Taylor, Mich., Gail Ferrell, Elizabethton, and Patricia Thornhill, Fort Pierce; his stepmother, Eula Bowling, Lake Placid; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
