- Odell Jessie Greer, 92, of Damascus, Va., the Green Cove Community, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at his residence Mr. Greer was born February 19, 1921, in Washington County to the late Junie Gentry and Andrew Jackson Greer. Surviving are his wife, Opal Mae Greer of the home; two daughters and spouses, Ann and Tracy Dolinger of Troutdale, Va., and Carolyn and Dean Gentry of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn.; four sons and spouses, Bill and Jean Greer of Damascus, Ogene and Tracy Greer of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., Larry Greer and Gary Greer of Damascux, Va.: ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Green Cove Baptist Church, Damascus, Va. Interment will be at Green Cove Cemetery 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013. The Rev. Jerry Fritz and the Rev. Leonard Tenney will officiate.
