- OBITUARY AND FUNERAL NOTICE: AUDA RALPH PETERS Auda Ralph Peters, age 76, 200 Liberty Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his residence of apparent heart attack. He was a native of Carter County, and was the son of the late John Wesley and Venia Elizabeth Colbaugh Peters. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired painter and janitor for Carter County School System. He was a member of Painter Local Union #437. He was a U.S. Army Veteran Having served in World War II as a medic in Germany. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, and a niece, Hildred Artino. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Peters, of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward and Judy Peters, NC, three daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Becky and John Lay, Clinton, TN, Genia and Steve Pierce, Elizabethton, Alice Elizabeth Peters, of the home, eight granddaughters, one grandson, 3 great grandsons, one great granddaughter, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Emma Hurley, Baltimore, MD, Reba and Jerry Vines, Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Blevins Cemetery. Military Honors to be accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom, V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Harold Lowe, Warren Deyton, Mack Brown, Norman Taylor, Maynard Peters, Steve Pierce and John Lay.
