- Geraldine S. Livingston, age 92, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her residence. Geraldine was born in Carter County to the late Joe and Reatha Goodwin Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Livingston; her sisters, Betty Nave, Christine Oxendine and June Steffin; a brother, Vernon Smith; and a stepmother, Florence Leah Smith.
Geraldine retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 50 years of service in the beaming department. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Gilda Ruth Reed and husband Teddy, of Elizabethton and Judy Scalf, of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Melanie McAllister and husband Kenneth, Stephanie Grindstaff and husband Chris, Jena Smith and husband Jason, William Shoun and wife Chessie and Jeremy Reed and wife Carrie; her great grandchildren, Tre Shoun, Jordan Smith, Liliana Ortega, Tucker Shoun, Dakota Grindstaff, Landon Smith, Macie Reed, Mycah Smith, Callen Reed, Hadley Reed and Baby Boy Reed, who is on the way; a sister, Joann Cable, of Butler; and a brother, Terry Smith, of NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Geraldine S. Livingston will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 23, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. Travis Tyler and Dr. Alan King, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Chaplin Chris Hughes. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday; or at the residence of her granddaughter, Stephanie, at any time.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in the McKeehan Cemetery, with Pastor Dennis Peterson and Chaplin Chris Hughes, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
