- Mrs. Eva Etta Oliver, 93, 153 Opossum Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John and Minnie Pierce. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Oliver, April 28, 1989; by two sons, James and Paul Oliver; three daughters, Elsie Arnold, Marie Oliver, and Ruth Oliver; three brothers, Caleb, Ambers, and Charles; three sisters, Sarah, Onie, and Pearl, and three grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Bertha Pea, of Liberty, Ind.; Faye Dugger, of Butler; Sarah Blevins, Onie Williams and Hazel Harding, all of Elizabethton; three sons, Joe Oliver, John Oliver, and Wayne Oliver, all of Elizabethton; one sister, Virginia Hardin, Elizabethton; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Cloa Shope, also survive.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
OLIVER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Etta Oliver, 93, 153 Opossum Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, February 2, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003 in the Buckles Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Smith Sisters. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Mike Barnette, Brian Whitaker, Ken Hammit, Darrell Hardin, Dwayne Batich, and Doug Stucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Simmons, Timmy Rutherford, Scott Sheets, Lee Wilson, and Ernie Williams. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Sarah Blevins, 118 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Oliver to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
