- MGYSGT. William Rigby Kind, age 82, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Sgt. Kind was a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was the son of the late William Rigby Kind and Edith Carter Kind. In addition to his parents, one daughter, Cynthia "Cindi" Kind, also preceded him in death.
Sgt. Kind was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, having served from 1945 until 1974. He then taught Marine Corps Junior R.O.T.C. at Daniel Boone High School from 1974 until 1994. He was a member of the Boones Creek Baptist Church.
