Abram married Margaret Laughlin Vance on 21 November 1815. They were the parents of James, Mary, Samuel, Harriet, Francis, Isaac, Catherine, and Abram. He died on October 2, 1859 in Washington County, Virginia. Abram Fulkerson was "an honored resident of Washington county through life". He served in the war of 1812, with rank of captain, and was a colonel in the Virginia militia.
