- ELIZABETHTON - Carson Campbell, age 96, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2018 from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital.
Carson was born in Elizabethton to the late James Lawson and Elsie Goodwin Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Crow Campbell; a daughter, Brenda Campbell; and several brothers and sisters.
Carson was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II. He served in the 45th Infantry Division ETO. He was a founding member of True Gospel Baptist Church. Carson owned the Sunset Inn Restaurant in Elizabethton and had previously worked for Daniel Construction and TVA as a millwright. Carson was a member of Hampton Masonic Lodge #750 F&AM.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Linda Campbell Smith, of Elizabethton; one son, David "Mike" Campbell, also of Elizabethton; and one granddaughter, Eleanor Graham, of Charlotte, NC.
A graveside service to honor the life of Carson Campbell will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Dean Presnell, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
