- Hampton – Thomas Walter White, 78, Rt. 1 Hampton, died at his home Tuesday following an illness of two years.
A native of Carter County, he was a member of Fish Springs Baptist Church. White was a retired employee of the American Bemburg Corp.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lottie White; Three Daughters, Mrs. Hessie Cable and Mrs. Winnie Watson of Butler, Mrs. Teresa Ward of Portsmouth, VA.; a son, Toby White of Elizabethton; four brothers, Dan White of Johnson City, Dewey, Lon and Frank White of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Oates of Johnson City, and Mrs. Sadie Hicks of Elk Park, NC. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Thomas Walter White, age 78,of Rt. 1 Hampton, who died Tuesday night, will be held Friday 2 p.m. from the Fish Springs Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Landrum. Music by the church choir. Burial in the McNiel Cemetery. Flower bearers will be friends. Pallbearers are as follows: Fred Casey, Jim Oliver, Ray Reece, Jim Reece, Will Lewis, Hance Haley, J.D. Rainbolt, Troy White, Howard Rainbolt, Ferd Rainbolt.
