- Anna Smith, 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Hermitage Health Care Center of Elizabethton. Anna was born in Richlands, Va., to the late Leroy and Alice Greer Stout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cecil Smith; a brother, Homer Stout; and two sisters, Nell Stout and Ethel Stout.
Anna had been employed at Bemberg for 34 years and had also worked for the Senior Citizens Center, the Neighborhood Service Center and the United Way. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. Anna enjoyed quilting and sewing and she loved to shop.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sandra Lyons and husband Wayne of Elizabethton; and three grandchildren, Wayne Lyons II and fiancée, Ashley Bailey of Elizabethton, Emily Lyons of Bristol, Va., and Chelsea Lyons of Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Anna Smith will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 27, in the Fireside Room of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Tim Gouge and her grandson, Wayne Lyons II, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Lyons II, Wayne Lyons, Jack Stout, Jackson Stout and Darrell Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Bryant, James Loveless, James Alexander and Dr. Robert Walter. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff of Hermitage Health Care for the love and care given to Anna.
