- Frank Carr, 82, 135 Old Stoney Loop, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Carr was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Lee and Belle Lyons Carr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edel Carr Sams; six brothers, Arvy, Jess, Arline, Andre, Paul and Silas; a stepson, Sam Bowers II; and a granddaughter, Julie Seymore.
Mr. Carr was a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran, Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader, Army 6th Division, in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, after 41 years, and a member of East River Park Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.
CARR -- Funeral services for Frank Carr, 82, 135 Old Stoney Loop, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, at East River Park Christian Church with Mr. John H. Smith and Mr. Joel Stauffer, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of John and Mary Smith and Lavelle Fair. Interment will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166.
