- Elsie Lillian Chambers, 87, 1249 Thomas Boulevard, Elizabethton, died Monday, November 12, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Chambers was a native of Washington County and had been a resident of Carter County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Elizabeth Fox Austin and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Chambers Sr., November 5, 1979, a brother, Bill Austin, and a sister, Dorothy Chambers.
Mrs. Chambers was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was co-owner and founder of Jim's Men and Boy's Shop.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Tony Maddox, Dallas, Texas, and June and Bobby Snyder, Gray; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kay Chambers, Elizabethton; a brother, Carl Austin, Elizabethton; and 10 grandchildren, Bobby Snyder and Lance Snyder, both of Charlotte, N.C., Summar Snyder, Greenville, S.C., Todd Chambers, Atlanta, Ga., Craig Chambers, Kevin Chambers and Brandon Chambers, all of Elizabethton, Dorinda Rainey, Unicoi, Chad Maddox, Dallas, Texas, and Ty Maddox of Nebraska. Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

CHAMBERS -- Funeral services for Elsie Lillian Chambers, 87, 1249 Thomas Boulevard, Elizabethton, who died Monday, November 12, 2001, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. Ron Owens and the Rev. Luis O'Bourke officiating. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Grace Baptist Church.
