- Walter Franklin Reece Sr., 69, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Reece was a son of the late Elmer and Sylvia Campbell Reece and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Deloach Reece.
Mr. Reece was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1968-1971. He was retired from the City of Elizabethton.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Walter Franklin Reece Jr. and Scottie Lee Reece, both of North Carolina; four sisters, Ruth Hopkins and Sue Whitehead, both of Butler, Earlene Whitehead, Elizabethton, and Joann Roark, Butler; and two brothers, Joel Reece and Steve Reece, both of Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Mr. Reece will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the McNeil Cemetery (Hwy. 321) with Rev. Thomas Hutchins officiating.
