- ELIZABETHTON – Mr. Ivan E. Morley, 90, 1266 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at his residence.
He was the son of the late W.B. and Cassie Lowe Morley and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vanetia Elliott Morley; and his second wife, Yvonne Garland Morley.
Mr. Morley was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Unaka Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was a former employee of Sears, Raytheon and Bonanza Steak House and was a lifetime farmer.
Mr. Morley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Ava Nell Morley, Elizabethton, Dale and Beverly Morley, Johnson City; four grandsons, James Morley and his wife, Janet, Todd Morley and his wife, Regina, Terry Morley, all of Elizabethton; David Morley, Greeneville, TN; three great-granddaughters, Kristin Taylor and her husband, Jacob, South Carolina; Jamie Morley, Elizabethton; Kasey Morley, Bristol; three great-grandsons, Tristan Morley, Jacob Morley and Ivan Morley, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Morley will be conducted on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Walker Roberson and Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will under the direction of the Unaka Baptist Church Choir.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday prior to the service. Friends may also call at the homes of his sons, J.B. and Ava Nell, 1232 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, or Dale and Beverly, 131 VonCannon Drive, Johnson City.
Entombment will be conducted on Monday, March 1, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Active pallbearers will be Joe Williams, James Morley, Terry Morley, Todd Morley, James Garland, Marvin Garland, Mike Peters and Vernon Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Nidiffer, Wendal Stout, Gary Arnold, Jimmy Eggers, Roy Salyor, Hazen Street, Les Grindstaff, Jack Buckles and his church family. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
