- OBITUARY AND FUNERAL NOTICE: CONLEY R. PETERS Conley R. Peters, age 87, 1889 Hwy 91, Elizabethton died Monday, October 20, 2003 at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William Bill and Zella Nidiffer Peters. He was a Charter member of Unaka Baptist Church and served a number of years as custodian. He retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 45 years of service. Mr. Peters was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F. & A.M., Elizabethton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Lola Garland Peters, his 2nd wife, Jeanette Peters and four brothers. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Lemmie Taylor, Elizabethton, twin sons and two daughters-in-law, Zayne and Vickie Peters, Kingston, TN, Wayne and Nora Peters, Elizabethton, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two special friends, Bessie Miles and Rob Greer also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Blair. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, at Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lemmie Taylor, Tim Rasnick, Lanny Peters, Kevin Peters, Rob Greer, Tony Jones, Dwayne Taylor and Norman Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult Mens Sunday School Class of Unaka Baptist Church, Richard Lancaster and Conway Markland. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace or friends may also call at the residence 1889 Hwy 91, Elizabethton anytime.
