- Mrs. Geraldine 'Jerri' Stanton, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief but courageous battle. A native of Carter County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Anna Pearson. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Stanton, five brothers and five sisters-in-law: Dale Pearson, Howard Pearson and wife Helen, Edsel Pearson and wife Lucille, Earnest Pearson and wife Wanda, Douglas Pearson and wife Margie and Dorothy Pearson, wife of Jim Pearson.
Geraldine was a longtime member of Bakers Gap Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. The youth at the church held a special place in her heart.
Geraldine was known by family and friends as 'Jerri'. She loved to spend time with her family and church family. She also loved to cook, sew and work in the garden.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Missy Stanton of Elizabethton, TN; son and special daughter-in-law, Larry and Dawn Stanton of Mountain City, TN; brother, Jim 'Paul' Pearson of Elizabethton, TN; several nieces and nephews; a dear lifelong friend, Bernice Whaley, and her church family.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with her friend and Pastor, Dennis Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Bakers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Arney, Jimmy Pearson, Roy Thompson, Doug Arney, Dan Arney, Richard Snyder, Jason Baker and Phil Pearson. Honorary pallbearers Steve Pearson, Les Pearson, Ronnie Pearson, Dave Dugger, Glen Arney, Wade Snyder, Doran Bunting, and Joel Dugger and Geraldine's church family.
