- Tempie Mae Treadway, 91, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Hillview Health Center, Elizabethton, after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Carter County, she was a homemaker most of her life, and worked at Bemberg for a short time. She was a member of Green Pine Baptist Church.
Tempie was the daughter of the late John Treadway and Jane Ingram Treadway, and was also preceded in death by her 11 brothers and sisters, Frank Treadway, Abe Treadway, T.R. "Zeke" Treadway, Jimmy Treadway, William E "Bill" Treadway, Alf Treadway, Pearl Treadway, Iva Treadway Shell, Gertie Treadway Leonard, Della Treadway Elrod and Lucy Treadway.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Lucille Treadway and Mary Treadway, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, June 5. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Terry Howell will officiate, with special music provided by Jerry Barnett, soloist. Interment will follow the committal service at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery. The family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad McClelland, Johnny Brummitt, Cliff Tompkins, Gordon Stepp, Jess Price, Randy Shell, Jeff Shell, Samuel David Shell II, Cecil Tipton, William Stover, friends and neighbors.
