- Frances Delores "Shorty" McGuire, age 82, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 7, 2012.
"Shorty" was born July 6, 1929 in Banner Elk, the daughter of the late Ada Belle Wilson and Roby Oscar McGuire. She was retired from the former Volvo-White Trucking in Greensboro. She also was a member of First Christian Church in Kernersville.
Mrs. McGuire is survived by her son, Larry G. McGuire of Texas; grandson Sean McGuire of Texas; her loving niece and caregiver Rheba Lowry of Cleveland, Ohio; great niece Julie Lukjan; great nephews Stephan Lowry, and Michael Lowry; great-great niece Kiera Lukjan, and great-great nephews Stephan Lowry, and Collin Lowry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Jewell J. Moody.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012, at 11:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Zionville.
