- He was a son of the late William James Alford, Sr., and Veda Pierce Alford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Alford was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Hyder and Judy Ketron.
Mr. Alford worked for Leon Ferenbach and Bemberg, before retiring from East Tennessee State University after many years of employment.
Mr. Alford was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM Lodge # 622 Watauga, and was of the Scottish rite and a Jericho Temple Shriner.
Bill loved country music. He and his band played country music on WJHL in 1945, and he played and produced shows on WIDD.
The funeral service was conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 13, 2012 from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
The graveside service and entombment was conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 14 from Roselawn Memory Gardens.
