- Mrs. Blonnie Edith Crowe Bowers, 90, of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Farris Daniel and Lottie Pearl Morton Crowe.
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by three sons, William "Bill", Tony and Burl Bowers; by one daughter, Charolette Renfro; one brother, Eston Crowe; one sister, Ellen Absher; and by two husbands, Woodrow Bowers and D.C. Williams.
Survivors include six daughters, Betty Bell and Lois Hughes, both of Elizabethton, Patsy Presnell and Beulah Lunceford, both of Hampton, Carolyn Bishop, Michigan, and June Saults, Johnson City; one son, Terry Bowers, Johnson City; one sister, Maude White, Knoxville; one special son-in-law, John Presnell; 33 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and two special nieces, Shirley Morrell and Barbara Rumley. She is survived by her other family at Life Care Center.
Funeral service for Mrs. Blonnie Edith Crowe Bowers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Horace Bowers officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Morris Trio.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Buckles Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Jerry and Lester Lunceford, Burl Bowers, Tim Bowers, Mike Wexler, Jimmy Hughes and Harvey Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be John Presnell, Tim Willis, Claude Morton, Harold Montgomery, Martin Garcia, Mike Wolfinger, Allen Morris, Dwight Hughes, Dr. Peter Tuberty, the nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, 3rd floor, and residents and staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
