- Fate Whitehead, 76, 152 Old Highway 19E, Hampton, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Whitehead was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Frank and Jennie Morton Whitehead.
Mr. Whitehead was a former employee of Levi Strauss. He was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Street Whitehead; three daughters and a son-in-law, Vivian and Bobby Sneed and Carolyn Whitehead, all of Hampton, and Sandy Whitehead, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David "Doug" and Kim Whitehead, Hampton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Marlene Good, Elizabethton; and a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Walter Taylor, Elizabethton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and the Rev. Troy Davis officiating. Music will be provided by The Sounds of Victory. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, in the Whitehead Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Ronald Street, Ed Chambers, George Collins, Jimmy Collins, Ben Stevens, Louis Whitehead and Bobby Sneed. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Tolley, Bob Stevens, Wayne Blevins, Harold Chambers, Matthew Collins, Jerry Miller, Bill Lyons, Jerome Street, Ed Whitehead, Jack Tolley, the Rev. Greg Whitehead, Howard Roberts, Paul Street, George Roberson, Eddie Orr, Bill Roberts, Dudley Ingram, Richard Good and Jack Murray. A special "Thank You" to Dr. Joe May and Staff of Hospice Home Health Care.
