- Pauline Helen Whitehead, 85, of Hampton, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Linda Cochran Street.
Pauline worked at Levi-Strauss and retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. She attended Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fate Whitehead, and a sister, Virginia Cates.
Survivors include her children, Vivian Sneyd and husband Bobby, David Whitehead and wife Kim, Carolyn Whitehead and Sandy Whitehead, all of Hampton; six grandchildren, Cheryl, Travis, Becky, David, Heather and William; four great-grandchildren, including two that held a special place in her heart, Peyton and Ian; three brothers, Paul Street, Ronald Street and wife Aileen and Jerome Street and wife Jackie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Pauline Helen Whitehead will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Whitehead and the Rev. Cody Fox officiating. The eulogy will be given by Ronald Street. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 1, in the John Whitehead Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, will be George Collins, David Moody, Bobby Sneyd, Wayne Cates, Alex Trivette, Bob Stevens, Ed Simerly and Cecil Puckett. Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Crisp, Billy Cochran, Terry Jones, Darryl Bailey, Troy Davis, Barney McKinney, Carita Rogers and family, Gerry Miller and all the U.S. Forestry employees. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of the 2nd Floor, especially Angie and Lisa, of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, the staff of Respiratory Therapy, Dr. Diez, Dr. Siv, Dr. Ebeo and Dr. Hanson and the staff of Roan Mountain Medical Clinic.
