- Clinton Bennett, 75, of the Blue Springs Community of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a valiant battle with leukemia. He was the son of the late Malley and Lillie Arnett Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grant Bennett, Darius Bennett, Claude Bennett and Barney Bennett Mr. Bennett was a former employee of Raytheon Corporation and of North American Rayon Corporation with thirty four years of service, before retiring from the Abrasive Technology Company in Watauga. He was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and loved fishing, woodworking, building things with his hands, and he loved his granddaughter. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Wanda R. Oliver Bennett, of the home; two daughters, Paula Dillon and husband, Robert Jr., and Susan "Sue Sue" Williams and husband, Jeff, both of Elizabethton; one son, Mickey Bennett and wife, Sandra, Elizabethton; one very special granddaughter, Bethany Williams, Elizabethton; one brother, Martin Bennett and wife, Ruby, Hampton; two sisters, Myrtle Rudy, Sulphur Springs, and Jane Ward, Jonesborough; four sisters-in-law, Jane Bennett, Elizabethton, Nadine Ward, JoAnn Ward and Lois Vines, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason, Minister, officiating. A eulogy will be provided by his son, Mickey Bennett. Music will be under the direction of Donna Ellis. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Saturday, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery in the Blue Springs Community. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Williams, Wendell Williams, Steve Franklin, Mack Collins, Gayle Oliver and Grant Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Blue Springs Christian Church, Harry B. Crowe and Willard Loveless.
