- BRISTOL - Horace Ledwell Jr., age 77, of 4241 Old Jonesboro Rd., Bristol, TN, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 25, 1928, in Johnson City, Tn., a son of the late Horace M. and Mary Josephine Light Ledwell, and has lived in the area since 1980. He attended Valley Pike Presbyterian Church. He served 49 years as a merchant seaman, delivered supplies during the Vietnam War & Desert Storm, and visited many ports around the World.
He was preceded in death by sister, Rosemary Ledwell Metts; and brother, Franklin Monroe Ledwell.
He is survived by: Brothers: Richard L. Ledwell and wife, Evelyn, Ronald E. Ledwell and wife, Sandy, Sister: Margie Grindstaff and husband, William P.; Several Nieces and Nephews; Special Nephew: Richard L. Ledwell II; Special Friend: Dr. William A. Wiley.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Goforth and Rev. Claude Pennington officiating. The burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
