- Amanda Gragg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Greene was born February 26, 1859 and died Nov. 20, 1917. She was married in March 1877 to Mr. Richard G. Gragg. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Baptist Church at Stony Fork, but had been a member of the Baptist Church of Boone for several years prior to her death.
In the death of Mrs. Gragg, the country has lost another of its model women and mothers. Kind, gentle, considerate, neighborly, obliging, and the genuine christian spirit manifested by her was a chief characteristic of her life, and served as an inspiration to all who knew her. She never faltered in duty; never failed to lend a hand to the unfortunate, and never withdrew the hand that might support any person, either financially or spiritually, if within her power to help. Her chief delight was in serving the God whom she loved, in telling others of His love, and taking her place in church work for the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ. Loved ones and friends mourn her departure and find her palce vacant, but her good deeds and her magnificent influence will still live of those she left behind, and will be an inspiration to prepare for the happy reunion above where all shall receive their just reward.
"Well done thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joys of thy Lord."
