- Wilma Colbaugh, 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her family on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Pine Ridge Care & Rehab Center. Wilma was born in Carter County to the late Amos and Mary Cuthbertson Benfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler C. Colbaugh, on September 27, 2010, and three sisters, Margaret Williams, Evelyn Oaks and Jean Donahue.
Wilma retired as a sales clerk from Watson's Department Store and was a member of Borderview Christian Church, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, being with her family and her pet cat, "Tommy."
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Teresa Honeycutt and husband Michael, Elizabethton; two sons, Jack Colbaugh and wife Julia, Pinole, Calif., and Tyler Colbaugh and spouse Barry Hounshell, Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Nicole Moore and husband John, Elizabethton, and Kara Flinn-Colbaugh of California; two great-granddaughters, Mallory and Madilyn Moore, both of Elizabethton; and a sister, Opal Street, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a graveside inurnment service at 10:45 a.m. Monday, August 7, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hinshaw and Mr. Scott Reynolds officiating. Music will be under the direction of her great-granddaughter, Mallory Moore. The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center, Dr. Vivian Clark and Dr. Paige Furrow for the love and care shown to Wilma during her illness.
