Wound Fatal To Nave; Funeral Set Wednesday
A bullet wound inflicted by a 73-year-old woman proved fatal to Charlie Nave, 38, employe[sic] of the Elizabethton water department, who died yesterday in a Johnson City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the First Freewill Baptist church here.
Nave was shot December 22 by Mrs. Mary Roberts who admitted placing a .38 calibre[sic] pistol against his side and firing as he was allegedly attempting to enter her home. She said that prior to the fatal shot her 15-year-old grandson, Andrew Roberts, had fired a shot into the ground in an effort to frighten Nave away.
Both are free on $5,000 bond.
