- Rhoda Ann Penix, 88, Piney Flats, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Christian Care Center, Johnson City.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Watson Sanders. Rhoda was a member of Tri-Cities Church of God. She worked as a contract cleaner for the United States Postal Service. Rhoda enjoyed going to church and working in her gardens and greenhouse.
In addition to her parents, Rhoda is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Penix, a son, William Penix, three brothers, Bill Sanders, Fred Sanders and Frank Sanders and two sisters, Mary Grimm and Betty Sanders.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Donald Penix (Betty) of Fall Branch and Ronald Penix (Mary Lou) of Johnson City; two daughters, Patt Scott (Bobby) of Indiana and Betty Penix of Piney Flats; a daughter in-law, Debbie Penix of Elizabethton; a sister, June Eller (Jack) of Johnson City; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held to Honor the Life of Rhoda at 2:00PM on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Shell Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50PM. Pallbearers will be Derick Bare, Trenton Doerr, Terry Penix, Josh Penix, Lucas Penix and Robert Tapp.
