- ELIZABETHTON - Dayton Lynn Simerly, 77, Elizabethton passed away Saturday April 1, 2017 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. He was born August 4, 1935 in Unicoi County, Tennessee to the late Conley and Mae Miller Simerly. Lynn was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a dedicated Christian and loved the Lord. He was a member of the West Side Christian Church. Lynn was a retired Inspector for the Tennessee Department of Transportation after 41 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Libby Brooks Simerly. A daughter, Debra Cochran and husband Tim. Two Sons: Terry Simerly and wife Jamie and Robert Lynn Elliott and wife Cindy. Eight Grandchildren: Brooks Cochran, Colton Elliott, Brandon Shatley, Jessica Pritchard, Dustin Simerly, Jeremy Simerly , Terrina Simerly, and Katie Simerly . Several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews and a special friend: Ken Nidiffer. Four Brothers: Norman Simerly and wife Sheila, Ken Simerly and wife Patty, Rick Simerly and wife Teresa and Ed Simerly and wife Kathy. His brother-in-law: Don Brooks and wife Mary.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Greg Key officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Grandsons & Nephews. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care that Lynn received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Lynn to the West Side Christian Church, 1309 West G Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
