Louise Standifer Grindstaff, 70, 164 Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Pine Ridge Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Letcher County, Ky., she was the daughter of Anna Pierce Collins, Elizabethton, and the late Clyde Standifer. Mrs. Grindstaff was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Grindstaff, in 1982; two sisters: Pauline Odom and Helen Phillips; seven half-sisters, one half-brother, and her stepfather, George Collins. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include one son and daughter-in-law: Joey and Judy Grindstaff; one half-sister, Edra Mays, Indiana; one step-brother and sister-in-law, J.L. and Edna Collins, Elizabethton; one step-sister, Cora Glover, Ohio; two special grandchildren: Shanda and Stephanie Grindstaff, Elizabethotn; one nephew, Wayne Odom, of the home; one nephew and his wife, Rodney and Betty Odom, Jonesborough; one great-niece and her husband, Misty and Nathan Whitburn; one special cousin and her husband, Pauletta and Lawrence Pierce, Elizabethton; and two nieces: Sondra Foutch and Yvonda McInturff, Elizabethton. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
GRINDSTAFF -- Graveside services for Louise Standifer Grindstaff, 70, 164 Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Friday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. H. Brooks Peters officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jennifer Greene. Active pallbearers will be Wade Watson, Carroll Grindstaff, Allen Laws, Lawrence Pierce, Delmas Taylor, Tommy Campbell, Fred Ray, Gary Shelton, Greg Glover and Terry Glover. Honorary pallbearers will be the staffs of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Pine Ridge Health Care Center. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, or anytime at the residence of her mother, Anna Collins, or her son, Joey Grindstaff, Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton.
