- Ruby Winters Dugger, age 88, formerly of 1815 Southside Road, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
She was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late John and Susan Arnold Winters. Mrs. Dugger was a member of Southside Christian Church. She had worked in food service at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and at McDonald's, Elizabethton. For many years, she enjoyed being a volunteer at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dugger was preceded in death by her husband, Tip Dugger, two sons: Terry Lee Dugger and Randy Tip Dugger, one daughter: Helen Ann Grindstaff, and one granddaughter: Jennifer Grindstaff.
Mrs. Dugger is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: David and Evelyn Dugger, Elizabethton, a daughter-in-law: Eva Dugger, Camden, TN, a son-in-law: Dennis Grindstaff, Elizabethton, grandchildren: Melissa Clemons, Kevin Grindstaff, Melanie Barnett, Terra Wampler, Derek Cornett, Sarah Younce, Rikki Dugger and J. L. Thomas, nineteen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law: Seffie Dugger, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dugger will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 27th in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Mr. Derek Cornett and Mr. Michael Koruschak, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of No Name But His and Charles Dugger. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 28th at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those attending are welcome to meet the family at 10:50 a.m. Monday at the cemetery for the service. Active pallbearers will be Steven Cornett, Ben Barnett, Dale Barnett, Joseph Younce, Kevin Grindstaff and Gary Simerly.
