- ELIZABETHTON - Wayne Clinton Shoun, 72, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hubert Clinton Shoun & Wenonah Proffitt Williams. He was a 1963 graduate of Unaka High School. He retired after 22 years of service as a chemical Technician with Great Lakes Research Corporation. Wayne was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to fish Golf and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Clifton Williams, several aunts & uncles.
Survivors include his children: Tracey Shoun and Ryan Shoun & wife Jennifer, all of Elizabethton. Two Grandchildren: Sadie Mae and Gavin Wayne Shoun. His brother & sister-in-law: Eddie & Della Shoun, Elizabethton. Two Nieces: Laura & Stephen Coleman and Madison and Joy Shoun & Kennedy His step-mother: Wilma Shoun. Two Aunts: Ada Nave and Barbara Blevins. His very special friends: Burless Campbell, Rick Church and Larry Greer.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Solid Rock Trio. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday will be: Thomas "Woody" Martin, Steve Lowe, Rick Church, Larry Greer, Bobby McGee and Hugh Buckles. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Melvin Nave, Richard Hodge, Lanny White, Harold Dean Morrell, Sonny Jones, Kevin Colbaugh, J. A. Stalcup, Jr., Stephen Coleman, Waymon Carrier, Jerome Cochran, Rob Stout, Pete Ruopp, Shona Lowe, Keith Williams and former employees of Great Lakes Research Corporation. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of his daughter Tracey Shoun.
