  Notes	Matilda Young was born in 1820 in NORTH CAROLINA, the only child of Wilson (age 29) and Elizabeth Hughes (age 20). She married Charles Hughes in Toe River Valley, Mitchell, North Carolina, United States and had 10 children, six sons and four daughters, with him. Matilda died in 1887 in BULADEAN, MITCHELL CO., NC (HUGHES CEM.) when she was 67. As the story goes Big Charles Hughes went and picked Matilda up shortly after she was born, put his bandana on her for a diaper, and took her home with him. When she was old enough to marry, he married her and was her husband until she died.
