- Lillie Rose Pierce Shepherd, 81, 102 Mildred Lane, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Lena Nidiffer Pierce.
Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker. Her hobbies were craftsand sewing. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Earl “Bunt” Pierce and Tony Allen Pierce.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Jack Collins and Vivian Rose and Louie Price, all of Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Mary Shepherd and Johnny and Debbie Shepherd, all of Elizabethton; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lona Gail Pierce,
Elizabethton, and Pearl Fletcher, Butler; two brothers, Troy D. Pierce, Spring City, Tenn., and Terry Wayne Pierce, Elizabethton; a special nephew, James “Little Bunt” Pierce; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shepherd will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, November 20, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Honeycutt officiating. Music will be provided by Joey Cole. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Grindstaff officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, will be Louie Scott Price, Todd Dean Price, Don Shepherd, Bill Collins, Tim Collins, Jonathan Huckaba, Justin Price, Daniel Shepherd, Mickey Lash, Chris Lash and John Lash. The family would like to express a special “thank you” to the staff and employees of Pine Ridge Care Center, Dr. Stephen May and Shelby Hughes.
