- Ralph B. Davis, 103, of Hillview Health Center, formerly of Elizabethton and Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016, from Hillview Health Center. Ralph was born in Carter County on April 17, 1913 to the late Ruben B. Davis and Cora C. Conley Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Judy Collins Davis; three brothers, Lonnie, Bill and Charles Davis; and eight sisters, Lola Ensor, Maggie Davis, Leida Nidiffer, Lucille Bales, Bernice Davis, Hildred Davis, Jean Carpenter and Mammie Davis.
Ralph retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Ruby Hughes and husband Walter, of Watauga, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Ralph B. Davis will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at the Elizabethton Church of Christ in Elizabethton with Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Roby Ellis officiating. Music will be provided by the church singers. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The committal and entombment service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park '96 Mausoleum of Peace. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of Elizabethton Church of Christ. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Hillview Health Center for the love and care shown to Ralph during his stay.
