- Loyd A. Williams, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Willie C. and Arthie Dinsmore Williams.
Mr. Williams had lived in Adrian, Mich., for a number of years where he retired from the Ford Motor Company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Williams was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Taylor Williams; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Jeff Iott, Madison, Ala.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. and Kathy Williams, Louisville, Ky., and Jeffrey and Tammy Williams, Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters, Verdie Mae Pierce, Christine Blevins and Naomi Richardson, all of Elizabethton; three brothers, Wesley and Lester Williams, both of Elizabethton, and Kenneth Williams, Piney Flats; and three grandchildren, Cody Iott, Richard Williams and Tyler Welch. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Pierce officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 14, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Jeremy Pierce, J.C. Bise, Jeff Iott, Bryan Taylor, Randall Pierce and Justin Pierce. Honorary pallbearer will be Dennis Tweed. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard.
