- ERWIN - Tennie Mae Cole Davenport, age 78, Erwin, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
She was born in Asheville but had lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Tennie was a daughter of the late Anon and Algia Jane Yelton Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Tennie was devoted to her family and loved them very much. She was their hero and cheerleader. Her nieces and nephews adored her. Tennie loved her Lord and was longing for Heaven. She loved Micky and Bandit, her furry companions.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Glen Davenport on December 18, 2013 and one brother, Kermit Cole.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, one son, Randy Rice and wife, Stephanie; one daughter, Pam Turner and husband, Rick, all of Erwin; three grandchildren: Brittany McInturff and husband, Ryan, Jonesborough, Lucy Blevins and husband, Geoff, Ethan Bailey and wife, Hannah, all of Erwin; two great grandchildren: Eden and Emma Blevins;
two brothers: Bernie Cole and wife, JoAnn, Erwin, Ken Cole and wife, Pat, Flag Pond; one sister, Hazel Peterson, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P. M. Thursday, October 12, 2017 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the residence of Randy and Stephanie Rice, 150 Bailey Hollow Road, Erwin. Following the visitation a celebration of Tennie's life will be held at 7:00 P. M. with Reverend Kevin Laws officiating and Mr. Erik Turner assisting. Music will be provided by Kevin Laws, Danny Miller and Jacob Tipton.
