- Arthie D. Williams, age 96, 113 Roy Bowers Rd., Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Enoch and Amelia Heatherly Dinsmore.
Mrs. Williams attended Prayer Tabernacle and loved attending church and serving her Lord. She retired from Shufford Mills in Hickory, NC. Mrs. Williams enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Clyde Williams, one sister, one brother and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Survivors are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Barbara Williams, Wesley and Nancy Williams, Lester Williams, all of Elizabethton, Kenneth and Joy Williams, Butler, three daughters and sons-in-law, Verdie and Martin Pierce, Jr., Christine and Clyde Blevins, Naomi and Carl Richardson, all of Elizabethton, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Sophie bowers, Elizabethton, two half-brothers, Grayson Dinsmore, Corbin, KY, Howard Dinsmore, Elizabethton, and two half-sisters, June Murray and Lena Shelborn, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Williams will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, November 16 with Rev. Eric Lynn Pierce and Rev. Greg Wagner officiating. Music will be under the direction of Shellie Rodifer and Sandra Ollis, soloists. Friends may also call at the homes of her children at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 17 in Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
