- Mrs. Mary Docia Davis, 98 of Rt #2 Hampton died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Peters, at 5 PM Friday. Mrs. Davis was a native of Carter County, and was the daughter of Alexander and Mary Bowers Lacey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Davis January 1940 and by a son Horace Davis, November 1930. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Peters, Rt #2 Hampton, and Mrs. Gladys Hodges, Lakewood, California; two sons, Ira P. Davis, South Gate, Calif., and Carl S. Davis, Davidsonville, Maryland; three brothers A.S. Lacey and Ellis Lacey, both of Johnson City, and Dave Lacey, Rt 1, Hampton; two sisters Mrs. Sanna Woodby, Rt. 9. Jonesboro, and Mrs. Esther Byers, Rt. 1, Hampton; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
