- Mr. Jack Eggers, 74, of 5060 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1927, in Yancey County, to the late Walter Eugene and Tempie Shook Eggers.
Mr. Eggers was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired truck driver from Food Lion, Inc. He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 13 and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Taylor Eggers; one son, Michael Eggers and wife, Vonda; and one daughter, Ms. Donna Condrey, all of Lexington; one grandson, Daniel Condrey; and three granddaughters, Ashley Wells, Kimberly Eggers and Traci Condrey, all of Lexington; two brothers, Buster Eggers and wife, Jean, of Lexington and Fred Eggers and wife, Flavel, of Boone; three sisters, Etta Davis and husband Hildreth and Mary Eggers and husband, Hoover, all of Banner Elk and Betty Hughes and husband, S.E., of Roan Mountain, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Eggers and Dale Jo Eggers; and three sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Cole, Mrs. Alice Tester and Mrs. Snow Caraway.
Services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington, officiated by the Rev. Chris Noland and the Rev. Tommy Cashatt. Burial followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.
