- Mr. Jimmie Dale "Paw Jim" Mann, 74, 222 Little Stoney Creek Road, Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Now he is cruising on the streets of gold!
Mr. Mann was the son of the late Dayton James and Winnie Arnett Mann and was a native of Carter County. He was a member of the Hunter Memorial Baptist Church and an honorary member of Fountain of Life Bible Church. He was retired from Great Lakes Research as a welder and had also retired from American Bemberg. He was also a member of the Carter County Car Club.
Mr. Mann is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Janette Bowers Mann of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa Treadway, Elizabethton; Lisa and Dan Germaine, Elizabethton; Carolyn and Dennis Ledford, Jr. Piney Flats; eight grandchildren, Brandon Treadway, Brian Treadway, Kent Germaine, United States Air Force and his wife Kim; Spc. Kyle Germaine, United States Army, and his wife, Heather, Kurt Germaine, Neil Ledford, Allison Ledford and Jared Ledford; two great-grandchildren, Yasmin Treadway and Savion Lytton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Mann, Elizabethton; Jerry and Velma Mann, Church Hill and a special sweetheart, Sandra K. Cederborg, Baltimore, MD. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Mann will be conducted on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, Elizabethton with Dr. Vic Young and Mr. Gerald Holly officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sue Bowers and Dan Germaine. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Gerald Holly, officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and Wayne Cagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Arnett, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Jason Hatjioannou, Dr. Louis Collier Jordan, members of the Carter County Car Club and J.D. Anderson. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the charity of their choice.
