- ELIZABETHTON — Pearl Hilman, age 84, of Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from her residence.
Pearl was a native of Carter County, born on March 18, 1932, to the late Lionel and Mae Pierce Vandeventer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Hilman on February 20, 2005; her brother, Arlan Vandeventer; and her precious grandson, Matthew Russell on December 13, 2013.
Pearl retired from Levi Strauss and Company as a seamstress and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved and cherished by all that knew her. She was a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord and was a charter member of Wayside Baptist Church of Johnson City. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, ceramics and cake decorating.
Those left to cherish her memory, include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Rick Ashworth, of Johnson City and Brenda and Donnie Persinger, of Elizabethton; her son, Rev. Steve Hilman, of the home; a brother, Floyd Vandeventer and wife Barbara, of Elizabethton; and her sister, Edith Williams, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews, along with her special friend, Myrtle Pierce, of Elizabethton, also survive.
The family respectfully requests your presence at a funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Pearl Hilman to be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2016, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with her son, Rev. Steve Hilman and Rev. Jack Maupin, officiating. Music will be provided by her son, Rev. Steve Hilman. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday; or at the residence at any time.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Brian Grindstaff, Justin Loudermilk, Charles Henson, Allen Moody, and Darrell Vandeventer. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Wayside Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Saturday to go in procession.
