- PINEY FLATS - Wallace James Osborne, 86, of 615 Pickens Bridge Road went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 20, 2001, at Select Specialty Hospital-Bristol Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was a son of the late Charles James and Lily Hicks Osborne. Mr. Osborne was a native of Bristol, Tenn. He lived a short time in Johnson County, Tenn., but had lived most of his life in Piney Flats. He was a member of Piney Flats Baptist Church. Mr. Osborne retired after 30 years of service from the Bemberg Plant of the Beaunit Corp. in Elizabethton and was also a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by an 18-month-old son, Paul James Osborn; five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Cleo Perkins Osborne of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Marvin "Buck" Johnson of Piney Flats; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Osborne of Marietta, Ga.; two grandsons, Marvin Johnson Jr. of Piney Flats and Bobby Osborne II of Johnson City; one brother, C.J. Osborne of Bluff City; one half-brother, I.G. Osborne of Blountville; one half-sister, Rosezeen Salyer of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2001, from Piney Flats Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Davis officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted Tuesday, July 24, 2001, from Edgefield Cemetery, Piney Flats at 2 p.m. Thos who wish to attend the graveside are requested to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Dan Torbett, Steve Elsea, Jim Sanders, Larry Crowe, John Swonger, Carl "Buddy" Rash, Hiram Rash, Scott Barnes, Bobby Osborne, Bobby Osborne II, Marvin "Buck" Johnson and Marvin Johnson Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the nephews of Mr. Osborne and the men of Piney Flats Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Piney Flats Baptist Church or other times at the residence of his daughter, 571 Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats.
